General Information

In 1981, the Illinois Park and Recreation Association (IPRA) College and University Relation Committee established an educational grant/scholarship program designed to assist individuals in furthering their educational endeavors. In 2003, the Illinois Park and Recreation Foundation began funding the scholarship program. Scholarships up to $2,000.00 will be awarded. In addition, all award recipients will receive a one-year IPRA membership.

Payment of the awards will be made in two installments. The first half of the award will be mailed to the student scholarship recipients in September, with the second half distributed at the IPRA Annual Meeting at the IPRA/IAPD Annual Conference held each January. Students must be in attendance at this meeting to receive the remainder of their award.

Eligibility

Applicant must be:
  • A current member of the Illinois Park and Recreation Association.
  • An academic and professional interest in the park, recreation, conservation, therapeutic recreation and leisure services.
  • Be in attendance or show proof of registration at university-level parks and recreation program.

Seniors must have proof of registration in a similar area of graduate studies for the following year.

A minimum 2.5/4 or 3.0/5 grade point average for all courses of study.
