Personal Summary: After my freshman year of college I took a summer position at a YMCA day camp in Michigan. It was sort of by chance that I took the job but doing so affected my career choices from that point on. My passion for that summer job caused me to seek out opportunities in college to continue in the field of recreation. This is how a pursuit of a career in the field began for me. Over my career I have worked for four Park Districts including Oak Park, Lombard, Lisle and presently Cary. The position(s) I held at each agency were: Oak Park - Center Director; Lombard - Program Mgr.-Youth/Adult Athletics; Lisle - Program Mgr.-Adult Athletics and Fitness Center, and Adminstrator (Supt.) of Recreation Services, Cary - Director (Supt.) of Recreation, and currently Director of Operations. I have been employed with the Cary Park District since 2000 and in my current position for the past three years. In this position I am responsible for all of the operations related areas of District that include Parks Maintenance, Facility Maintenance, Recreation Programs and Facilities and the Foxford Hills Golf Club. During my career I have tried to stay active and involved with a variety of professional opportunities. In recent years I have given my time in a number of capacities to the Recreation Section. Becoming involved as a Mentor is just another way to give back to the field what has been given to me along the way. Outside of work much of my time revolves around my family, I am married with three children ages 3, 5 and 7 yrs. Both my wife and I have served as coaches in the local youth sport groups. We spend a great deal of time traveling from activity to activity as our kids become more involved in team sports and other activities. Personally I make time 2-3 times a week to play ice hockey.
